What is Thailand Lottery?
It’s run by the Government Lottery Office (GLO) under the Ministry of Finance. It has operated since 1939. It’s one of only two forms of legal gambling in Thailand, the other is horse racing in Bangkok. About 60% of sales goes to prize money and ∼28% to government revenue.
What is the price of thailand lottery?
1st Prize: 6,000,000 baht (6 million) for matching all 6 digits
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Prizes: smaller amounts for 6-digit matches
Last 2 digits / Last 3 digits: you win if your last 2 or 3 digits match
You have to match your ticket exactly, it’s not like choosing numbers yourself.
Which Countries are popular for this Lottery?
The lottery is hugely popular outside Thailand too. Many websites and Facebook pages offer “Thai Lottery tips, VIP numbers, sure numbers”. Be careful – GLO never sells tips or leaks numbers. Most of those are scams. The real result is only published by GLO.
What is the process of buying ticket?
This is the only official way. The tickets are pre-printed with 6 digits, you can’t choose your numbers, you choose from what the vendor has.
a) Go to an authorized seller:
Street lottery vendors (you see them everywhere with a wooden board of tickets)
Authorized retail shops, 7-Eleven counters
GLO office in Nonthaburi
Official digital app Pao Tang – tickets at the official 80 baht face value
b) Pick your ticket – check the 6-digit number. They are sold as a pair, so 1 ticket = 80 baht, a pair = 160 baht.
c) Pay cash (or scan via Paotang). Make sure the vendor is registered with GLO before buying.
d) Write your name on the back of the ticket immediately. For foreigners, you may be asked to show passport. Keep the receipt.

What is the process of prize diatribution?
For 1,000,000 tickets per draw, there are about 14,168 prizes. The main structure:
1st prize: 6,000,000 baht
2nd prize (5 prizes): 200,000 baht each
3rd prize (10 prizes): 80,000 baht
4th prize (50 prizes): 40,000 baht
5th prize (100 prizes): 20,000 baht
3-digit front / 3-digit back, 2-digit back: 1,000 – 4,000 baht
How to claim your prize?
a) Small prizes (20,000 baht or less):
You can claim same day at the shop where you bought it, or at any authorized agent. You get cash immediately after tax deduction.
b) Big prizes (over 20,000 baht):
You must go to GLO head office in Nonthaburi, Bangkok. Open Monday-Friday 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM, prize counter until 2:30 PM.
You need:
Winning ticket (write your name on back)
Thai ID or passport for foreigners
Claim form + queue number
If you bought via official Pao Tang app (digital ticket), winnings are transferred directly to your linked bank account.
What is the Tax Ratio?
Government lottery: 0.5% stamp duty + 1 baht stamp duty for every 200 baht of prize
Charitable lottery (TCL): 1% tax deducted
For prizes over 20,000 baht you get a cheque from Krung Thai Bank after deduction, not cash.
What is the Time Limit?
You must claim within 2 years from draw date. After that money goes to state revenue. Some sources mention up to 10 years but official GLO rule is 2 years, so don’t wait.
If you are outside Thailand, you cannot claim remotely – you need someone with power of attorney to claim at GLO with your original ticket and passport copy. That’s why most “online Thai lottery” sites from Pakistan cannot pay real GLO prizes.
Conclusion
Thailand Lottery is the official state-run lottery of Thailand, run by the Government Lottery Office (GLO) since 1939. It is one of only two legal forms of gambling in the country.
